About Noonamah

Noonamah is a rural locality in the Litchfield Municipality, about 45 kilometres south of Darwin along the Stuart Highway. The name derives from the Wagaman Aboriginal language, meaning plenty of tucker and good things. During World War II the Australian Army established a military depot and camp at Noonamah in 1941, and remnants of wartime airstrips remain in the area. The locality was officially gazetted in 1998.
