About Malak
Malak is a northern suburb of Darwin in the Northern Territory, located approximately 12 kilometres from the Darwin CBD. Established in the 1970s, the suburb was named after the Aboriginal tribe from the Daly River area. Malak was under construction when Cyclone Tracy devastated Darwin on Christmas Day 1974. The suburb is home to three schools, Darwin Adventist School, Malak Primary School and Sanderson High School, as well as the Northern Territory divisional headquarters of the Australian Red Cross. Malak had a population of around 3,000 at the 2016 census.
