About Freds Pass

Freds Pass is an outer rural locality in the Darwin region of the Northern Territory, in Litchfield Municipality. Its name comes from the old Freds Pass Road, which ran through a gap in the Daly Ranges on the route from Darwin towards the Adelaide River and was later superseded by the Stuart Highway. The pass and road were named by the surveyor W. P. Auld for his fellow-explorer Fred Litchfield, who also gives his name to the nearby Litchfield shire.
