About Mount Hunter
Mount Hunter is a rural village and district in the Macarthur Region of New South Wales, about five kilometres west of Camden, on the traditional land of the Tharawal and Gundungurra peoples. It was named for the nearby hill from which Governor John Hunter looked over the wild cattle herd in 1796. Dairying was long the district's main activity, and the village retains its public school, established in 1859, and the 1875 St Paul's Anglican Church.
