About Willmot

Willmot is a compact residential suburb of Sydney in the City of Blacktown, located 49 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district in the Greater Western Sydney region. Named after Thomas Willmot, first President of Blacktown Shire Council from 1906 to 1910 and 1912 to 1913, the housing development built in 1971 was originally planned to be called St Johns but was renamed to avoid confusion with the existing suburb of St Johns Park. Developed as part of the Mount Druitt public housing scheme by the New South Wales Housing Commission, the suburb contains Willmot Reserve with multi-purpose courts, playgrounds and fitness equipment. Willmot is served by Mount Druitt railway station on the Western Line.
