About Temora
Temora is a town in the north-east of the Riverina region of New South Wales, 418 kilometres south-west of Sydney and about 90 kilometres north of Wagga Wagga. It began as a pastoral station in 1847, and after gold was discovered in 1869 a rush from 1879 brought thousands to the diggings; the field was proclaimed in 1880 and, at its peak, produced half the state's gold. Today Temora is one of the state's largest grain and wool producers and is home to the Temora Aviation Museum, which displays Australia's only two flying Spitfires.
