About Upper Bingara
Upper Bingara is a rural locality on a plateau above the Gwydir Valley in northern New South Wales. It began as a goldfield in the 1850s and grew to a settlement of up to 2,000 people with shops, hotels and a racecourse. The gold yields diminished by the 1870s and the area is now a quiet rural locality where fossicking continues.
