About The Pilliga
The Pilliga is a vast, sparsely populated rural locality in Narrabri Shire in the North West region of New South Wales, between Coonabarabran and Narrabri. It covers part of the Pilliga forest, a vast semi-arid woodland that is the largest continuous remnant in New South Wales and the largest native forest west of the Great Dividing Range. The name comes from a Gamilaraay word meaning swamp oak.
