About Rocky River (Tenterfield - NSW)
Rocky River is a rural locality in the Northern Tablelands of New South Wales, in Tenterfield Shire roughly 30 kilometres east-south-east of the town of Tenterfield. It occupies sparsely settled plateau country on the Timbarra Tableland around the Timbarra River, at the headwaters of the Clarence River. Alluvial gold and tin were mined in the area, and the Timbarra goldfield with its former gold mine lies within the locality.
