About North Star

North Star is a small village in Gwydir Shire, in northern New South Wales near the Queensland border, about 54 km south-south-east of Goondiwindi. Settled from around 1888, it grew as a wheat-growing centre: the Boggabilla railway line reached the town in 1932, and North Star later became the line's terminus, with the last grain silo on the route.
