About Kookabookra
Kookabookra is a locality on the Northern Tablelands of New South Wales, 61 kilometres south-east of Glen Innes. Between 1889 and 1893 it was a gold mining centre of around 300 people, with hotels, stores, a post office, police station and court house. Mines included the Welcome Stranger, New Dominion, Millionaire, British Lion and Butcher's Reef. A coach service connected the settlement to Glen Innes twice weekly.
