About Berrigan
Berrigan is a town on the Riverina Highway in southern New South Wales and the administrative centre of Berrigan Shire. Settlement began in the 1870s on country formerly held by the Barooga and Boomanooma stations; its first hotel opened in 1888 and the town was proclaimed in 1890. It was linked by rail in 1896, and the surrounding district grows canola and other crops, much of it under irrigation.
