About Metford

Metford is a suburb of the City of Maitland in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. Located on the New England Highway, it borders East Maitland, Thornton, and Ashtonfield. The Main Northern railway line passes through the suburb; the line opened in 1857, but Metford railway station did not open until 17 March 1995. The suburb is home to the Mindaribba Aboriginal Cultural Centre, base of the Mindaribba Local Aboriginal Land Council, and contains Metford Public School and Maitland Christian School.
