About Glennies Creek
Glennies Creek is a rural locality in the Hunter Valley exc Newcastle region of New South Wales, located about 25 kilometres north of Singleton and 225 kilometres northwest of Sydney in the Singleton local government area. The locality is named after James Glennie, a Royal Navy captain granted 2,080 acres at Falbrook in 1824 whose estate Dulwich included 3,000 acres with vineyards, orchards, and coal deposits. Glennies Creek Dam completed in 1983 on the creek creates Lake Saint Clair, a 1,540 hectare reservoir supplying water for irrigation, mining, and the town of Singleton.
