About Warrumbungle

Warrumbungle is a rural locality in the Gilgandra Shire of central-western New South Wales, near the town of Coonabarabran. It covers much of the Warrumbungle National Park, which protects the eroded remnants of a volcano that was active around 17 million years ago. The park's rugged trachyte spires and volcanic plugs, including The Breadknife and Crater Bluff, make it a popular bushwalking destination.
