About Tambar Springs

Tambar Springs is a small town in the Gunnedah Shire, located 417 kilometres northwest of Sydney in the North West Slopes region. Opened for grazing in the 1830s, it is known for its war memorial, believed to be the first World War I memorial erected in New South Wales, and for significant palaeontological finds including a complete Diprotodon skeleton.
