About Carinda

Carinda is a small remote town in the Walgett Shire of New South Wales, situated on the black soil plains approximately 80 kilometres south of Walgett. Named from an Aboriginal word meaning you carry, the area was first encountered by European explorers John Oxley and George Evans in 1818 and supports sheep and cattle grazing alongside wheat farming.
