About Kungala
Kungala is a rural locality in the Clarence Valley of northern New South Wales, about 30 km south of Grafton on the North Coast railway line. Its name is derived from an Aboriginal term meaning to shout and listen. The railway station, opened as Sherwood in 1915 and renamed Kungala in 1926, served the district until it closed in 1974. Today the locality is quiet farming and grazing country among the hills and creeks of the Clarence Valley hinterland.
