About Boambee East

Boambee East is a locality in the City of Coffs Harbour on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, situated about ten kilometres south of Coffs Harbour's centre. It forms the more suburban eastern section of Boambee, divided from the semi-rural west by the Pacific Highway. The name is of Aboriginal origin, from the language of the Gumbaynggirr people, the traditional custodians of the region. Notable features include Boambee Bay, Boambee Creek, and the Boambee State Forest to the northwest. The locality was among the earliest sites of sugar cane cultivation in the Coffs Harbour district, with the region's first sugar mill established there by James Newport in 1882.
