About Rockley
Rockley is a small historic village in the Central Tablelands of New South Wales, about 30 km south of Bathurst, and one of the oldest European settlements west of the Blue Mountains. Named by Captain Watson Augustus Steel after his birthplace in Wiltshire, England, it became a township in 1848 when copper was discovered nearby, followed by gold in 1851. Rockley is now declared a National Trust historic village.
