About Georges Plains
Georges Plains is a locality in the Bathurst Region of New South Wales, about 12 km south of Bathurst via Perthville. Named by European settlers in honour of King George III, it was once a fully functioning township on the Main Western railway; remnants of its shop, post office and railway station remain, and the gothic stone St John's Anglican Church dates from 1867. It lies within the traditional land of the Wiradjuri people.
