About Condobolin
Condobolin is a rural town on the Lachlan River in central-western New South Wales, approximately 490 kilometres west of Sydney. Known as the Heart of NSW, it is the main commercial centre of the Lachlan Shire and serves the surrounding agricultural region of wheat farming, sheep and cattle grazing. The area is the traditional land of the Wiradjuri people, and Condobolin was established as a river-crossing stopover for drovers in the 19th century. Major Mitchell discovered the site in 1836, and the town was surveyed in 1859. The Lachlan River, Australia fourth longest, is a focal point for fishing, camping and water sports.
