About Springfield (Snowy Monaro Regional - NSW)
Springfield is a rural locality in the Capital Region of New South Wales, located about 35 kilometres west of Nimmitabel in the Snowy Monaro Regional local government area. The landscape of the Monaro region features rolling plains rising to rugged peaks and shallow valleys of the upper Murrumbidgee, with basaltic soils supporting dry grassland and some woodland. The area supports sheep and cattle grazing typical of the Monaro pastoral region, in a cold climate with reliable frosts, and sits within the broader Snowy Mountains Scheme area recognised as the birthplace of Australian multiculturalism.
