About Nerrigundah

Nerrigundah is a locality and former village in south-eastern New South Wales, at the head of the Tuross River Valley about 19 kilometres inland from Bodalla, on the traditional lands of the Walbanga people of the Yuin. Gold was discovered there in 1860, and the village was raided by the Clarke bushranger gang in 1866. After the mining boom it survived on timber, wattle bark and eucalyptus oil, and much of the village was destroyed by bushfire in the 2019-20 summer.
