About Murrumbateman

Murrumbateman is a town in the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales, on the Barton Highway about 30 km north-west of Canberra, in the Yass Valley Shire. Proclaimed a village in 1885, it was sheep, wheat and gold-mining country, and since the 1970s has become a centre of the Canberra district's cool-climate wine region, with numerous boutique wineries around the town.
