About Kalaru
Kalaru is a locality in the Bega Valley Shire on the Sapphire Coast of New South Wales, about seven kilometres north-west of Tathra. The name is Aboriginal in origin from the Yuin language group, meaning roads to water, and the area was originally known as Tathra Road before being officially renamed in 1967. Kalaru sits in gently rolling countryside near Mimosa Rocks National Park and Bournda National Park, and lies within the broader Bega Valley dairy region.
