About Chatsbury
Chatsbury is a locality on the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales, in the Upper Lachlan Shire about 33 km north of Goulburn and 22 km south of Taralga on the road to Oberon and Bathurst. It is sheep and cattle grazing country that developed around a mid-19th century pastoral estate, where the Carr family later ran a noted Romney Marsh sheep stud. The Chatsbury Slate Quarry, known as Slatevale, employed Welsh miners from the 1890s and produced roof slates that still cover buildings in Sydney, Goulburn and Canberra.
