About Ballalaba

Ballalaba is a locality in the Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council area of southern New South Wales, about 30 km south-west of Braidwood on the Shoalhaven River. The district is known for the convict-built Ballalaba Barn, a heritage stone barn from the 1830s where Archer, winner of the first two Melbourne Cups in 1861 and 1862, was bred. A local school served the area from 1867 until 1940.
