About Strathgordon
Strathgordon is a town in south-west Tasmania, built as a company town to house Hydro-Electric Commission employees working on the dams of the Gordon-Pedder impoundment. The only road access is via the Gordon River Road from Maydena, 70 kilometres away. It is a base for visitors to the Southwest National Park and the World Heritage-listed South West Wilderness, and the nearby Gordon Dam, 140 metres high, is Australia's tallest arch dam.
