About Osborne Park

Osborne Park is a suburb located approximately 8 kilometres northwest of the Perth central business district in Western Australia, within the local government areas of the City of Stirling and City of Vincent. Named after William Osborne, a butcher and Perth Road Board member who purchased part of an 1840 crown grant along Wanneroo Road, the area was originally characterised by rich peaty soils from swamps between Lake Monger and Herdsman Lake. Chinese, Italian, and Yugoslav settlers cultivated market gardens here from the early twentieth century, and a tram extension from the Leederville line served the suburb. After World War II, Osborne Park transitioned from a semi-rural locality into a predominantly industrial and commercial area, with Herdsman Business Park and numerous showrooms and retail outlets forming a significant employment hub for Perth's northern suburbs. Herdsman Lake, on the suburb's southern edge, remains an important wildlife sanctuary and regional recreation area.
