About Geraldton
Geraldton is a coastal city in the Mid West region of Western Australia, 424 kilometres north of Perth, with a population of around 38,500. Originally named after Governor Charles Fitzgerald and surveyed in 1850, Geraldton is the seat of the City of Greater Geraldton and serves as the major seaport for the northern Wheat Belt. The city is home to the HMAS Sydney II Memorial, St Francis Xavier Cathedral designed by Monsignor Hawes, and the Museum of Geraldton with its collection of Dutch East India Company shipwreck relics from the Houtman Abrolhos.
