About Carnamah
Carnamah is a town in the Mid West of Western Australia, about 307 km north of Perth on the Midlands Road, a service centre for the surrounding wheat and sheep country. Gazetted in 1913, it is named after a pastoral property established by Duncan Macpherson in the 1860s, which itself took its name from the nearby Carnamah Spring. The Midland Railway passed through in 1894, and the town grew with the wheat-farming settlement schemes that followed; the restored Macpherson Homestead now stands just outside town as a community-owned landmark.
