About Womarden

Womarden is a rural locality in the Shire of Three Springs in the Mid West region of Western Australia, of sandplain country with ironstone gravel soils and Banksia heath vegetation. The area supports broadacre grain cropping and sheep grazing in the northern wheatbelt transition zone, and the Koolanooka Hills about 31 kilometres to the east hosted Australia's first commercial iron ore export mine opened in 1966. The name was given by Surveyor Wells during early colonial surveys of the district.
