About Muchea
Muchea is a town in the Shire of Chittering, located 43 km (27 mi) north north-east of Perth, Western Australia. The name comes from the Aboriginal word 'Muchela', which means 'water hole' in Nyoongar, referring to the abundance of water in the area. The townsite was gazetted in 1904, and from 1960 to 1964 the nearby Muchea Tracking Station supported NASA's Mercury project.
