About Redbank Plains
Redbank Plains is a rapidly growing residential suburb in the City of Ipswich in Queensland, located 12 kilometres east-south-east of the Ipswich central business district and 34 kilometres south-west of Brisbane. Named after the red soil on the bank of the Brisbane River, the area was first settled in the 1820s. Redbank Plains State School opened on 9 February 1874 and the Redbank Plains Library opened in 1985. Town Square Redbank Plains is the main shopping centre. The suburb is serviced by the Ipswich and Centenary Motorways and a weather radar facility operated by the Bureau of Meteorology.
