About Port Welshpool
Port Welshpool is a town in the South Gippsland region of Victoria, about 191 km south-east of Melbourne, on the shores of Corner Inlet. It is home to the heritage-listed Port Welshpool Long Jetty, built in the 1930s for coastal shipping and the eastern Bass Strait fisheries; at over 850 metres it was among the longest wooden jetties in Australia and served as a base for minesweepers during World War II.
