About Snake Island
Snake Island is an uninhabited sand island in Corner Inlet, part of the Nooramunga Marine and Coastal Park and the largest island in the inlet. Traditional country of the Gunai people, it has been used for winter agistment of cattle swum across the channel since the 1880s. Bushwalkers visit on permit, camping amid woodland and heath home to kangaroos, koalas and ground parrots.
