About Congupna

Congupna is a rural village on the Goulburn Valley Highway, about 10 km north of Shepparton in Victoria. The name is thought to come from an Aboriginal word for a large fish, and the district grew around its railway station after the Shepparton-Numurkah line opened in 1881, with a mechanics' institute and a creamery following. Irrigation from the 1910s brought closer dairy settlement, and the village now serves the surrounding farms.
