About Terang

Terang is a town in the Shire of Corangamite in south-western Victoria, on the Princes Highway about 212 kilometres south-west of Melbourne. It lies on the shore of the former Lake Terang, drained in the 1960s, whose dry basin now holds recreation and sporting grounds and a golf course, and the area is the country of the Kirrae Wuurong people. The post office clock tower dates from 1903-04, tree-lined avenues in the town are listed by the National Trust, and the volcanic maar Lake Keilambete lies about 4 kilometres to the north.
