About Moorebank
Moorebank is a suburb of south-western Sydney, in the City of Liverpool along the Georges River. It takes its name from Moore Bank, the estate of Thomas Moore, the colony's Master Boat Builder, who settled there in 1809 and became known as the first citizen of Liverpool. The area has strong military connections: it was used for army training from 1894, and after the Commonwealth acquired the land in 1912 it became the Liverpool Field Training Area, the main World War I training centre for New South Wales.
