About Jabiru

Jabiru is a town in the Northern Territory, Australia, completely surrounded by Kakadu National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Built in 1982 to service the Ranger uranium mine, it is the only Australian town inside a national park. It now serves as a tourism gateway to Kakadu's wetlands, rock art, and wildlife on Mirrar traditional lands.
