About Mount Jackson
Mount Jackson is a locality in the Shire of Yilgarn in outback Western Australia, about 110 kilometres north-north-east of Southern Cross. A mining settlement grew up here after gold was discovered in January 1894, with hotels and mines around the hill that the explorer Gregory had named in 1846, and the old workings are now a popular prospecting and fossicking area.
