About Dukin

Dukin is a rural locality in the Western Australia Wheat Belt region, located about 211 kilometres from Perth in the Koorda Shire. Named from the old Dookinwarrin soak ten kilometres to the northwest, the town was gazetted on 21 January 1921 and was once a siding on the Wyalkatchem to Bencubbin railway line with a shop, wheat bin, and telephone exchange. By the 1980s the shop had closed and the bin was removed, and the locality is listed on the State Heritage Office register as an historic settlement site, with the name still pronounced Dookin by some locals.
