About Burges

Burges is a rural locality in the Shire of York, Western Australia, named for the Burges family, early settlers who established nearby Tipperary Farm in the 1830s. Burges Siding, on the railway extension from York through Spencers Brook to Northam, gave local farmers a place to send and receive goods, and the siding recalls the family's historic association with the district.
