About Amelup
Amelup is a locality in the Shire of Gnowangerup in the Great Southern region of Western Australia, on Chester Pass Road about 95 km north of Albany. It lies on the northern edge of the Stirling Range National Park, near the Bluff Knoll access road, with the range forming a backdrop to the cleared farmland. The area was a centre of the sandalwood trade in the 1890s, and land was opened for selection in 1928; today most of the locality is used for cereal cropping and sheep grazing.
