About Zanthus
Zanthus is a remote and uninhabited outpost on the Trans-Australian Railway about 210 km east of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. Established as a railway town while the line was built between 1912 and 1917, it had nine dwellings and a population of 47 in 1933. Today it is a crossing loop where trains pass, and its name derives from the Latin name for the kangaroo paw, Western Australia's floral emblem.
