About Cundeelee
Cundeelee is a locality in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia, about 160 kilometres east of Kalgoorlie on the edge of the Great Victoria Desert. A government ration depot opened here in 1939, and the Australian Aborigines' Evangelical Mission was established in 1949, attracting families from surrounding desert country, including many Anangu people from the Spinifex country. The mission closed in 1985 after its water supply failed, and many residents moved to other desert communities or returned to their traditional lands.
