About Papulankutja

Papulankutja, also known as Blackstone, is a large Aboriginal community in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia, located between the western and great Victorian deserts within the Shire of Ngaanyatjarraku. Situated at the foot of the Blackstone Ranges, the community was established in the 1970s by Ngaanyatjarra people returning from Warburton and Pitjantjatjara people from Ernabella Mission, and remains a place where traditional culture and language are actively maintained.
