About Merkanooka
Merkanooka is a small rural town in the Mid West region of Western Australia, located approximately 25 kilometres from Mingenew in the Shire of Morawa. The area was historically one of four district townsites alongside Morawa, Canna and Gutha. The name was briefly used for the town of Morawa in 1922 when the Railways Department sought to distinguish it from Mullewa, before reverting to its original name.
