About East Murchison
East Murchison is a small rural locality in the Shire of Meekatharra in the remote mid-west region of Western Australia, situated approximately 500 kilometres north-east of Perth in the Murchison goldfields. The area is characterised by pastoral leases, gold mining and remnant mulga and eucalypt woodland on the flat to gently undulating red sandy soils. East Murchison lies within the broader Murchison region, one of Australia's most sparsely populated areas, with the surrounding landscape featuring arid bushland, seasonal waterways and scattered mining camps.
